I knew of Andrew Tucker from his work at a neighbouring Practice and asked him to undertake a Business Appraisal of our Medical Centre, which we had recently taken over. We knew there were issues but we were unable to address all of them ourselves and when we received Andrew’s Business Report we were impressed. We knew we had found the expertise that we required and asked Andrew to be the Practice Manager for us in June 2010.

Andrew set-up and streamlined all our systems and procedures, including an upgrade of our entire computer network. We were also undergoing a transition from Medcen to MedTech at the time and Kylie of Tucker Consulting assisted us through that difficult time and still comes in on a regular basis for ongoing staff training. Practice Management Software is such a significant investment and it is a relief to know that we have reliable back-up support and that the database is being maintained correctly.

A huge load was lifted from our shoulders when Andrew came on board – he worked on what we needed to work towards accreditation, HR, upgraded our IT and keeps everything ticking over nicely – he is an expert in his field and very easy to work with.

The other benefit with Andrew is that his services reach beyond day-to-day operations - he is a resource ‘on tap’ as he is right up-to-date with all relevant legislation and informs us of any policy changes and their implications.

Kylie has been involved with our Practice for a number of years and she is very, very good at her job. I have been at Roxburgh Medical Centre since January 2010 and I was unsure about the accuracy of our MedTech32 database – Kylie had already identified and solved errors that she encountered while training. So we commissioned Kylie to perform a database audit and she was extremely thorough. We have a large practice here (five doctors) and initially we asked Tucker Consulting to assist us with our Medtech software. They tidied up the database and we also had hands-on training sessions with Kylie on how we could better utilise Medtech, which was great.

We then requested that Tucker Consulting undertake another one of their services for us, which was to complete a Business Audit of our practice.

This audit was both perceptive and thorough , and we found Andrew’s input was just what we needed – we appreciated this new level of external expertise and we found their skills in accounting and management, combined with their focus on GP practices, a winning combination.

Our previous Practice Manager resigned and Andrew Tucker undertook the role for us for several months until he found a suitable replacement. Andrew was very good, especially as this was a difficult task since he had to manage remotely with part time visits. Andrew handled the recruitment of a new Practice Manager – the advertising, short-listing, interviews, appointment and completed the orientation for the selected staff member. All of this meant that we, the doctors, were able to concentrate on our patients.

We have now had Tucker Consulting working with us for about six months and we continue to use their expertise in our practice, in particular Andrew’s assistance to implement various items identified in the Business Audit Report.

Kylie Tucker has done two MedTech32 training courses with us so far – the first year for our admin staff and the second year for our clinical staff. It was so successful that we have made it priority to allocate budget so that we can have Medtech32 training at least every year with Kylie. The refresher courses she does with our staff, who are already very familiar with the software, is incredibly valuable as Kylie is able to show our staff new ways of performing tasks, new ‘tricks’ and the latest updates on the software. She is extremely easy to understand and her training is appropriate in that she is able to adapt her style depending on the person she is training – easily adapting from an experienced GP to a new receptionist. Kylie is unflappable – no matter what you ask she is able to smoothly navigate her way round to find the relevant answer. She has an amazing knowledge of the Medtech32 software and we have complete confidence in her. We have no hesitation in recommending Kylie of Tucker Consulting to any medical practice.
